TRANSIT INSURANCE FOR YOUR LIVESTOCK
Western National Livestock Insurance Policy
As leaders in the livestock industry, the team of WLA is introducing an established service of TRANSIT INSURANCE to meet yet another need of farmers in the country. The transit insurance will cover the transit of livestock to the abattoir for slaughtering. Farmers can now rest assured that their livestock can be insured at a low premium of 0.5% of the freight value of the particular freight of stock. Claims are payable by WLA to the Insured on settlement of the account of the slaughtered animal(s).
Livestock can now be insured for:
Loss of or damage to an insured animal during transit to the abattoir and the slaughter of an animal at the abattoir cause by:
- Animals that escape during the uploading process at the abattoir.
- Damage to any animal as a result of an accident during the transit to the abattoir
- Loss (Death) of an animal as a result of an accident during the transit to the abattoir is subject to a deductible (excess) of 20% of the average gross value of the consignment animals.
- Loss (Death) of an animal on arrival at the abattoir is subject to a deductible (excess) of 20% of the average gross value of the sonsignment animals.
- Animals that are humanely put down as a result of an accident whilst in transit and before slaughtering
- Loss or damage as a result of theft of the animal(s) from the trunk or trailer whilst in transit to the abattoir
- Loss of a carcass at the abattoir which has been entirely rejected as a result of bruising (Code55) is subject to a deductible (excess) of 20% of the average gross value of the consignment animals.
- Loss of a carcass at the abattoir which has beenentirely rejected as a result of illness or conditions of ilness such as those diagnosed during anti- or post-mortem examinations at the abattoir and according to the Large Stock and the Small Stock Post and Ante Mortem Examination abd Compensation Payment schedules.
